Ingredients

  • 500 g schnitzel, halved or fillet in slices
  • 2 large onions, sliced or strips
  • 200 g ham or smoked meat
  • 200 g cheese, Emmentaler, Appenzeller or similar in slices
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 100 g cheese, rated, if possible the same as the slices
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

  1. Season the meat slices and layer them alternately with the onions, cheese and ham vertically in a casserole dish that is as narrow as possible. Gently shake the cups of cream and spread on the layered meat, cook the grated cheese on top and in the oven at 160 ° for 45-60 minutes, depending on the meat.
  2. When the meat is done, you can drain the stock and bind it or just leave it as it is.
  3. Glazed potatoes, spaetzle or dumplings and a salad go very well with it.
  4. Any meat can be used, beef is also suitable, but takes a little longer.
