Ingredients

  • 1 celery root, approx. 600 - 800 g
  • 100 g spelled flour (whole rain)
  • 2 egg (s)
  • Celery salt or sea salt
  • 100 g milk or soy milk
  • 1 pinch (s) raw cane sugar
  • possibly spice mixture, hearty

Instructions

  1. Peel the celery tuber, cut in half and cook in a little water until firm to the bite; this can take between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on the size of the tuber. The tuber can be cooked the day before.
  2. Prepare a batter from the other ingredients. Let the dough soak for about 20 minutes. If you want the dough to have a spicy taste, 1/2 teaspoon spice mixture can be added.
  3. Cut the celery bulb into 1 cm thick slices.
  4. Dip the celery slices in the somewhat thick dough and bake in hot oil or coconut fat, electric setting 2. Without a spice mixture, the batter is mild and the taste of the celery bulb is good to taste.
  5. It goes well with mashed potatoes with roasted onions and strongly seasoned mushrooms.
