Ingredients

  • 300 g apples
  • 200 g pear (s)
  • 100 g cranberries
  • 4 tablespoon honey, or sugar
  • 200 ml port wine or apple juice
  • some butter, for stewing

Instructions

  1. Wash apples and pears, peel (if desired), quarter, core and cut into thin slices. Wash, sort and drain the cranberries.
  2. Melt some butter in a saucepan, add honey and fruits and sauté for about 1 minute over low heat. Pour in port wine and bring to the boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer over a low heat for about 5 minutes.
  3. Serve the compote either warm or cold.
  4. Tastes delicious with vanilla ice cream, rice pudding, pancakes or just plain.
