  • Bread – 100 g
  • Canned sprat in tomato sauce – 1 can (240 g)
  • Pickled cucumber – 80-120 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) – 1-2 tbsp

  • Green onions – 1-2 stalks

  1. Prepare foods on the list.
    To make croutons, you can use both white and black bread. I used a baguette.

  2. Remove the canned sprat carcasses from the jar, place in a bowl, and mash with a fork until smooth.
  3. Cut the pickled cucumber into small cubes and add to a bowl.
  4. Mix everything well. Taste the mixture and season to taste if necessary with a little salt or ground black pepper.

  5. Cut the bread into slices about 1 cm thick.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and brush with vegetable oil. Place slices of bread in a skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes, until golden brown on one side.
  7. Then turn the bread over and fry for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  8. Transfer the toasted bread to a plate and spread the prepared sprat paste evenly over the croutons.
  9. Chop the green onion finely and sprinkle on each crouton.
