Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 20 g yeast, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 240 ml milk
  • 65 g mararine
  • 1 medium egg (s)
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt
  • 4 tablespoon sugar
  • 520 g wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon oil, for the work surface

For the filling:

  • 2 tablespoon Nutella
  • 1 medium egg (s)
  • 150 g nuts, round
  • 2 tablespoon almond sticks
  • 100 g marzipan paste
  • 100 ml cream

For the cast:

  • 150 g powdered suar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • water

Instructions

  1. Dough:
  2. Mix yeast and honey into a pre-dough and let rise for 10 minutes.
  3. Then add the remaining ingredients and knead intensively for about 10 minutes. If it still sticks, add a little more flour. The consistency should be elastic and comfortable. Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  4. Knead the dough again vigorously and then roll it out into a square on a work surface lightly rubbed with cooking oil.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top / bottom heat.
  6. Filling:
  7. Cut the marzipan mixture into small pieces. Lightly toast the almond sticks in the pan and chop them up if necessary. Mix everything with Nutella, egg, ground nuts and add the cream. The consistency shouldn`t be too runny, but it should be easy to spread.
  8. Spread the filling on the rolled out yeast dough and roll it up.
  9. Further processing:
  10. You can cut the roll into 3 cm thick slices and bake snails from them. Baking time approx. 20 minutes.
  11. If you put the snails close together, you get a rose cake. Baking time approx. 25-30 minutes.
  12. You can make a braid out of it. To do this, cut the roll lengthways and then loop the two strands together several times. Baking time approx. 25-30 minutes.
  13. Place all the baked goods on a baking sheet lined with baking paper or greased and let rise for another 20-30 minutes.
  14. After baking, let it cool down briefly, then brush with the icing.
  15. For the icing, put the powdered sugar in a bowl, add lemon juice and, if necessary, water. The cast should be easy to paint but not too thin.
