Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, boiled
  • 1 egg (s), whisked
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet yeast (dry yeast)
  • 3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ cinnamon
  • a little nutmeg, more grated
  • Icing sugar for dusting
  • Vegetable oil for deep-frying

Instructions

  1. Mix the milk with the egg, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and sugar in a bowl. Add the yeast and stir until it has dissolved. Add the flour with the salt and the spices (only season very little with the nutmeg - if necessary omit if you don`t like it) to the other ingredients, mix into a dough and knead well. Let this dough rise for about 45 minutes.
  2. Then knead again until the dough is supple. Then roll out the dough into a one inch thick dough. Then cut out small squares of 20 x 10 cm and cover and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil to 190 ° C and fry the dough squares in portions until golden brown. Turn now and then.
  4. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Dust with icing sugar and serve hot.
  5. A cafe au lait is also sufficient.
