Instructions

  1. Put sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to the boil while stirring. Let simmer for about 3 - 4 minutes. Stir in between. Let cool down.
  2. Add the lemon and lime juice. This results in the so-called Sweet & Sour Mix. Put it in a cool place for about 2 hours.
  3. Pluck the basil leaves, place in a blender with the Sweet & Sour Mix and chop briefly. Strain through a fine sieve. This mixture can be prepared and, if necessary, placed in a cool place.
  4. To prepare the cocktail, add ice-cold gin and cold sparkling water to the mixture. Pour crushed ice into a chilled highball glass with a capacity of approx. 240 ml and fill up with the Gin Basil Highball Cocktail. Serve decorated with a basil leaf.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
