Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 150 g suar, brown
  • 130 g butter, soft
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 200 g honey
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 500g flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon ¼ salt
  • 3 teaspoons gingerbread spice

For decoration:

  • 200 g powdered suar
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 1 egg white
  • Food coloring, (e.g. red, green, black)

Instructions

  1. Beat the sugar and butter until frothy. Then hide the egg for about two minutes. Then stir in the honey for two to three minutes. Gradually mix in the water.
  2. Mix the flour, gingerbread spice, baking powder, baking soda and salt in another bowl.
  3. Gradually knead the first mixture with the flour mixture to form a smooth dough.
  4. Divide the dough, shape into flat cakes and wrap in cling film. Then place in the refrigerator for one to two hours.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured work surface and cut out gingerbread men with a cookie cutter.
  6. Place the gingerbread men on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about ten minutes.
  7. Let the finished gingerbread men cool down.
  8. A royal icing is made for decoration. Beat the egg whites with salt until stiff. Then add half of the powdered sugar and stir in. Then stir in the second half of the powdered sugar for two to three minutes.
  9. Put part of the white icing in a piping bag, use it to line the males and draw dots for the eyes and sleeves.
  10. Divide the rest of the icing into three servings. One of the portions can be smaller. Now color the icings in red, green and black with one drop each of the food coloring.
  11. With the colorful icings, the gingerbread men can now be decorated as desired (see video for an example).
