Ingredients

  • 375 g lard, (melt and let cool)
  • 400 g suar
  • 2 packs vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon deer horn salt, (mix with cold water)
  • 625 g flour
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder, (only for brown nuts)

Instructions

  1. Melt the lard and then let it cool down a bit!
  2. All ingredients are now kneaded into a dough. Let rest wrapped in foil. The dough will keep for a few days in the refrigerator, so it doesn`t have to be processed straight away!
  3. Shape the dough into rolls and cut off slices. Bake on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  4. ATTENTION: The lard nuts get bigger during baking, so do not lie with you !!!
  5. Bake at 200 ° C for about 15-20 minutes. The lard nuts are done when they can be moved on the paper, but are then still soft. They only solidify when they cool down, so don`t be surprised.
