Lemon-Orange Candy with Nuts and Honey

Homemade sweets with nuts, honey, orange peel, and lemon juice are no worse than store-bought ones. However, they are much more useful. And making homemade candy is a snap.

Ingredients

  • Walnuts (kernels) – 150 g
  • Honey – 3 tbsp
  • Orange (for zest) – 1 pc.
  • Lemon (for juice) – 0.5 pcs.
  • Sugar – 90-100 g (0.5 cups)

Directions

  1. Finely chop the walnut kernels with a knife.
  2. Wash the orange well, pour over with boiling water. Then wipe dry and grate the peel. Do not be too zealous, you only need the zest – the yellow part of the rind. Rub to a white layer – if you overdo it, the candy will taste bitter.
  3. Combine sugar and honey in a small saucepan. Put on low heat.
  4. Stirring the mixture continuously, wait until it boils. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into it, pour in the nuts and orange zest. Stir very well so that the sweet syrup covers all the nuts. Keep on fire, stirring, for a couple of minutes.
  5. Transfer the sweet mass to silicone molds. Trays for ice or small cupcakes will work. You can also use special forms for sweets.
  6. Place the candies in the refrigerator to set for about an hour. Then remove the nut candy from the molds and you can treat yourself to it.
