Ingredients

  • 800 g mirabelle plums, cored and chopped
  • 500 g berries (josta berries)
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 200 g suar, brown
  • 200 g preservin suar, 2: 1
  • 100 ml vinegar (raspberry vinegar)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon basil, dried
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon coriander, ground
  • 1 pinch clove (s)

Instructions

  1. If you can`t get josta berries, you can also use 250 g currants and 250 g gooseberries.
  2. Put all ingredients in a saucepan, mix well and slowly bring to the boil, stirring constantly. Then simmer for about 15 minutes on a low flame and stir from time to time.
  3. When the onion pieces are translucent and the mixture has turned a dark red color, the chutney is ready to be filled into screw-top jars.
  4. Makes approx. 6 glasses of 350 ml each
