If you are a mozzarella lover, make yourself the Italian Mozzarella in Carrozza sandwiches – closed hot sandwiches filled with stretching cheese, delicious and satisfying.
Ingredients
White bread for toast – 6 pieces (150 g)
Mozzarella cheese – 125 g
Milk – 120 ml
Eggs – 2 pcs.
Wheat flour – 50 g
Salt to taste
Extra virgin olive oil – 50 g
Directions
Prepare all the ingredients for making hot mozzarella sandwiches.
Beat eggs and a little salt with a fork in a separate bowl. Pour milk into another bowl and wheat flour into the third.
Free the mozzarella from the brine and cut into plates 0.5-0.6 cm thick.
Dip the slices of bread quickly in milk and place the mozzarella between them. Put them together.
Dip the resulting mozzarella sandwich in the wheat flour.
Dip the bread and cheese into a beaten egg and place in a skillet with hot butter.
Fry the mozzarella sandwich on both sides in a pan. The crust will turn brown and the cheese will heat up and melt.
Place the hot cheese sandwiches on a napkin to absorb excess fat. Slice the mozzarella sandwiches in half diagonally.
Serve the Mozzarella in Carozza sandwiches immediately after cooking, while the toasted bread stays warm and the cheese stretches nicely.
