New York Breakfast

Traditional smoked fish sandwiches were made for breakfast decades ago and are still popular today. It was a kind of ritual when slices of salmon were laid on top of a fresh bagel (bread in the form of a donut), smeared with cream cheese, and on top – tomatoes and onions. The combination of soft cheese, tender fish, crispy onion rings, and juicy tomatoes is exceptionally good … Instead of a bagel, slices of rye bread are also great. Added cucumbers – it became even tastier. Breakfast with these sandwiches is simple and sophisticated, modern, and classic at the same time.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Rye bread – 8 thin slices
- Cream cheese – ¼ glass
- Smoked salmon, thinly sliced - 220 g
- Red onion, cut into thin rings – ½ pc.
- Long cucumber (English – almost without seeds), thinly sliced - ¼ pcs.
- Medium tomatoes, peeled and seeded, cut into cubes – 2 pcs.
- Chives, finely chopped – 2 teaspoon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Toast the bread and brush each slice with whipped cream cheese (1 ½ teaspoon each).
- Layout a slice of fish, two onion rings, a couple of cucumber circles, and 1 tbsp chopped tomatoes.
- Sprinkle with green onions, salt, and pepper.
