Ingredients

  • 0.5 liter ½ milk, warm
  • 2 cubes yeast
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 kg flour
  • 125 g lard
  • 2 egg (s)
  • 1 pinch (s) salt

Instructions

  1. Crumble the yeast into the milk and let stand covered for 10 minutes.
  2. Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and make a well in the middle. Add the yeast milk, lard, eggs and salt, and then knead everything well until the dough comes off the mixing bowl and your hands. If necessary, add a little more flour. Then cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for double the amount (approx. 30 minutes).
  3. Meanwhile preheat the oven to 200 ° C top / bottom heat.
  4. After the rising time, knead the dough again and shape it into a loaf of bread. Lay the dough one on top of the other lengthways to make a long loaf.
  5. Put the dough in the oven for baking and immediately reduce the heat to 180 ° C. After baking for 30 minutes, use a wooden stick to check whether the bread is done. Then increase the heat to 200 ° C and bake the mares for another 5 minutes.
