Instructions

  1. Heat the milk (so that you can still put your finger into it). Crumble the yeast in a measuring beaker, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sugar over it, stir and pour in enough milk to just cover the whole thing. Mix briefly. Let the yeast rise in a warm place (the warm heater is great!).
  2. In the meantime, put the flour in a bowl. Add salt, egg and quark and knead everything. Add the yeast that has gone up and knead everything together well. Gradually add a little bit of the milk that has been put back and keep kneading until the dough forms a smooth ball. Nothing should stick to the edge of the bowl or your hands. Then put the dough in a bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise again in a warm place (approx. 30 - 60 minutes).
  3. In the meantime, line a loaf pan with baking paper and put in the batter, which has been shaped into a mare. Set the oven to 50 ° C top / bottom heat and let the dough rise in the closed oven until it has increased significantly in volume.
  4. Then switch up to 170 ° C and bake the mares for about 1 hour (2nd rail from the bottom). Brush the mares 2-3 times with water in the last 1/4 hour.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
