Spanish Potato Tortilla with Onions

Probably, on the Internet, this is the simplest and cheapest recipe, but, nevertheless, all the main ingredients are observed.

Ingredients

  • Eggs – 5 pcs.
  • Potatoes – 4 pcs.
  • Bulb onions – 3 pcs.
  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves
  • Vegetable oil – about 250 ml
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Peel the potatoes, wash them, and cut them into semicircles.
  2. Peel the onion, wash and cut into half rings.
  3. Pour a large amount of vegetable oil into the pan, leaving a little for the tortilla.
    Fry the unpeeled garlic cloves for 1.5-2 minutes.
  4. Add potatoes with onions and fry, stirring occasionally. You should get something between frying and deep fat. In this case, the fire should be moderate so that the potatoes and onions do not brown.
  5. When the potatoes are ready, move the contents of the pan into a colander and let the excess oil drain. At this stage, you need to remove the cloves of garlic.
  6. While the oil is draining, break the eggs and send them to a deep bowl. Beat eggs with a whisk.
    Add potatoes and onions to the eggs. And also salt and pepper to taste. Mix the contents of the bowl.
  7. Preheat a frying pan with a little vegetable oil. We transfer the egg-potato mixture to the pan. We are waiting for the eggs to grab, reduce the heat to medium, and cover the pan with a lid. After 2 minutes, run a spatula around the edges of the tortilla and make sure the tortilla does not stick to the pan. It is also advisable to stir the pan more often to prevent the tortilla from burning.
  8. After 5 minutes, turn the tortilla over with a plate or a flat frying pan lid. Do not try to turn the tortilla over with spatulas or spoons. Most likely, you will fail, and the tortilla will fall apart. Then cover the pan with a lid and leave to cook for another 3 minutes.
  9. Turn the tortilla onto a plate and serve hot or cold.
