Squid in Tomato Sauce Ingredients

  • Squids, carcasses – 800 g
  • Canned tomatoes in their own juice – 300 g
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Garlic – 2 cloves.
  • Fresh hot chili pepper – 5 g
  • Capers – 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley – 2-3 sprigs
  • Dried oregano – 1 pinch
  • Dried marjoram – 1 pinch
  • Dried basil – 1 pinch
  • Dried thyme – 1 pinch
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Olive oil for frying – 3 tbsp

Squid in Tomato Sauce Instructions

  1. We prepare products. Defrost squid. I immediately mixed all the dry spices, and I got 1 teaspoon with a slide of the aromatic mixture.

  2. Wash squid, clean it of films and entrails. To cleanse the squid more easily, you can dip them in boiling water for a few seconds and then quickly transfer them to cold water.

  3. Cut the peeled squid into rings.
  4. In a well-heated frying pan with olive oil (1.5 tablespoons), fry the squid, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes, salt and pepper to taste. Put the squid from the pan on a plate.
  5. Peel the onion and garlic.
  6. Finely chop the onion and cut the garlic into thin slices.
  7. Heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet and fry the onions for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Add garlic and fry for another 1 minute.
  9. Cut hot peppers into thin rings.
  10. Add the pepper to the pan and fry everything together for another minute.
  11. Cut whole canned tomatoes into small pieces.
  12. Add the tomatoes to the pan along with the juice.
  13. As soon as the contents of the pan boil, add the mixture of herbs, sugar, and salt. Stir and simmer the tomato sauce under the lid for 5 minutes.
  14. Chop the parsley finely.
  15. Put the squid in a pan with sauce. Add capers and parsley.
  16. Stir and heat the squid in tomato sauce, covered for 3 minutes. Turn off the heating.
