Sweet Potato Buns

Sweet homemade buns made from yeast dough containing mashed potatoes – this is something new! In principle, potato dough is very popular, but savory products are often made from it. And according to this recipe, buns for tea are straight: sweet, with sponge crumb and a crispy crust. All in all, they are definitely worth a try!

Ingredients

  • Flour – 340 g
  • Potatoes – 2 pcs. (240 g)
  • Sugar – 135 g
  • Butter – 50 g
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Dry yeast – 5 g
  • Warm water – 30 ml
  • Powdered sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 pinch

Directions

  1. First, prepare the mashed potatoes. To do this, peel the potatoes, cut into slices, rinse, transfer to a saucepan and cover with water. Place the pot on the stove over high heat. When the water boils, salt it. Reduce heat and cook potatoes until tender and tender (about 20 minutes). Drain all the water from the boiled potatoes.
  2. Mash the potatoes in mashed potatoes. You don’t need to add oil, potato broth, or milk.
  3. Sift flour into a bowl.
  4. Put mashed potatoes in flour, add sugar, add a pinch of salt and very soft, semi-melted butter.
  5. Dissolve dry yeast in warm water. Beat the eggs with a fork until smooth.
    Add eggs and yeast to the rest of the dough ingredients.
  6. Knead the sticky potato dough. Cover the bowl with the dough with a clean kitchen towel. Place the dough in a warm place for 40-60 minutes.
  7. Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees.
    Wrap the matched yeast dough. Divide the dough into 8 lumps, adding flour if necessary if the dough sticks to your hands. Place the potato balls on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment.
  8. Bake potato dough buns in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 30 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Transfer the finished potato buns from the baking sheet to a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  10. Wait for the buns to cool, then serve them.
