Cook: 50 mins

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Wheat groats – 170 g
Water – 700 ml
Salt – 0.5 teaspoon
Butter (optional) – 45 g

Directions

  1. Pour the groats with plenty of water, stir and remove the debris that floats. Rinse the cereals thoroughly, fold them onto a fine sieve and, when all the water has drained off, transfer the clean cereals to a saucepan with a thick bottom.
  2. Pour 700 ml of pure water into a saucepan, add salt. Cover the pan with a lid, put on high heat. Bring to a boil and remove any foam that forms.
  3. Then reduce heat to low and, stirring occasionally, cook wheat porridge for 25-30 minutes, until the cereal is soft.
  4. Then turn off the heating and, if desired, add butter to the porridge, stir. Also, if you wish, you can wrap the pot with ready-made wheat porridge with a towel or blanket and let it stand for 20 minutes – the wheat porridge will evaporate and become more tender.
  5. Wheat porridge on the water is ready! Such porridge is most delicious when hot, and when it stands for a while, it becomes more dense and gelatinous.

Enjoy your meal!
