  • 120 g butter
  • 300 ml milk
  • 50 g yeast, fresh
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt
  • 80 g suar
  • 2 egg (s)
  • 600 grams flour
  • 6 tablespoon applesauce
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt 100 g butter in a saucepan, remove from heat and add the milk. Crumble the yeast in a bowl and mix with the milk-butter mixture, salt, sugar and an egg. Gradually add the flour and work everything into a smooth dough. Cover and let rise for about 20 minutes.
  2. Knead again vigorously. Divide into 6 pieces, shape into long rolls and flatten them. Brush the pieces of dough with applesauce, fold them and braid them into two pigtails.
  3. Grease the baking sheet with the remaining butter and place the braids on it. Let rise for another 30 minutes. Brush the braids with the rest of the beaten egg and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  4. Bake in a hot oven at 200 - 225 ° C for about 20 minutes.
