Brambraki (Czech Pancakes)

Brambraki – Czech potato pancakes. Traditionally, they are prepared with the addition of marjoram and garlic. I came across a recipe-variation of these potato pancakes – with smoked brisket and beer, which looked quite “Czech”). In any case, the pancakes turned out to be very tasty.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 450 g
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Smoked brisket – 70 g
  • Dark beer – 50 m
  • flour – 50 g
  • Dried marjoram – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil – for frying
  • Sour cream (for serving) – to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare the required ingredients.
  2. Peel and wash potatoes and onions.
  3. Finely chop the smoked brisket.
  4. Grate potatoes and onions on a fine or medium grater, squeeze out the juice.
  5. Season with salt and pepper. Beat in an egg and stir.
  6. Add chopped brisket.
  7. Pour in beer, stir.
  8. Add flour.
  9. Stir and leave for 10 minutes.
  10. Heat the oil in a frying pan spread the potato mass with a tablespoon, and fry the pancakes over medium heat on both sides until golden brown.
  11. Spread the finished pancakes on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  12. Delicious potato pancakes with smoked brisket are ready. Serve hot, preferably with sour cream.
