Cake “Alaska” with Ice Cream inside

I saw this recipe from my favorite chef Jacques Pepin. The cake is easy to prepare, but you can surprise your friends by taking out a hot cake with cold ice cream inside. Intriguing? Then let’s get down to cooking.

Ingredients

  • Sponge cakes (ready-made) – 2 pcs.
  • Ice cream – 500-600 g
  • Sugar – 1 glass
  • Eggs – 5 pcs.
  • Vanilla sugar – 8 g (1 sachet)
  • Freshly brewed coffee – 1 cup
  • Potato starch – 1 teaspoon

Directions

  1. Soak the biscuit cakes with coffee. You can use any other impregnation of your choice, for example, your favorite syrup.
  2. We take the first cake and put the ice cream on it.
  3. Form the sides of the cake from the edges of the cake. Those. our task is to impose a biscuit on all sides of our ice cream, so to speak to pack it.)
  4. And we send our ice cream in a biscuit in the freezer.
  5. In the meantime, prepare a cream meringue.
    Separate the whites from the yolks and beat, gradually adding sugar, into a strong foam.
  6. We again take out our ice cream in a biscuit from the refrigerator, coat it with meringue cream.
  7. We can beautifully plant it over the entire surface of the cake from a pastry bag.
  8. We immediately send our cake to an oven preheated to 250 degrees, for about 5 minutes, so that the cream acquires a beautiful golden crust.
  9. We take it out of the oven and immediately serve it to the table.
