Ingredients

For the meat: (Köfte)

  • 350 g round beef
  • 2 onion (s), grated
  • 1 large egg (s)
  • 2 tablespoon breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ pepper, freshly ground
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ paprika powder, noble sweet
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ allspice powder
  • 1 handful smooth parsley, roughly chopped
  • 15 g butter

Also:

  • 100 g peas, fresh or frozen
  • 3 potato (s), peeled, roughly diced
  • 25 g butter
  • 100 g milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt
  • 1 pinch (s) nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 4 tomato (s), aromatic, peeled, finely diced
  • some dill, finely chopped, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (356°F) with top and bottom heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine the beef, grated onions, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, cumin powder, pepper, paprika powder, allspice powder, and parsley. Knead until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 8-10 egg-sized round meatballs.
  4. Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Press a small recess into the top of each meatball with your finger to form a bowl shape with a raised edge.
  6. Add pea-sized flakes of butter evenly into each bowl.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes at 180°C (356°F) until cooked through.
