Lard Sandwich Paste

A simple and quick recipe for a spread that is familiar, I think, to all of us and is loved by all too! I really like to eat such a sandwich spread with borscht – real yummy literally out of nothing. Only 2 budget products, 5 minutes of time – and a traditional aromatic snack is already on the table!

Ingredients

  • Fresh lard – 500 g
  • Garlic – 30 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Fresh dill (optional) – to taste

Directions

  1. We prepare the ingredients for making lard sandwich paste. For such a delicious spreading snack, it is better to take good soft fresh bacon without meat layer.
  2. We clean the fat with a knife from all possible contamination. If necessary, cut off the skin if it is too tough. I will leave it because it is soft and very aromatic.
  3. Cut the bacon into pieces.
  4. We twist the bacon in a meat grinder, alternating with garlic cloves. Salt (if the bacon was unsalted) and pepper to taste. You can also add dill herbs as desired.
  5. The lard spread is ready. It can be served immediately, but it is better to let it brew for at least 1 hour so that the bacon is well saturated with the aromas of garlic.
