Heat the pan with olive oil, add the chopped onions and sauté. Add the bacon and the chopped or sliced garlic and, when the bacon is a pleasant color, the tomatoes. Bring to the boil and add the chopped chili peppers. Stir in lemon juice and tomato paste and season with salt and pepper.
Cut the 6 tomatoes into small pieces and add, if desired, just before serving or before. Just before serving, shred and stir in the fresh basil.
While the sauce is cooking, cook the penne in plenty of salted water.
Tip:
If there is time to simmer the sauce, the result is a more intense taste experience.
