Cabbage Stewed with Meat, Rice and Mushrooms

Cabbage stewed with pork and rice, with the addition of aromatic mushrooms, turns out to be home-style tasty, and satisfying. Meat, mushrooms, and rice are first cooked separately to achieve a certain degree of doneness and then stew together with cabbage and vegetables. A delicious lunch or dinner is guaranteed with this dish.

Ingredients

  • White cabbage – 1 kg
  • Pork – 500 g
  • Champignons – 150 g
  • Round grain rice – 100 g
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Bulgarian pepper – 1 pc.
  • Tomato paste – 2 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
  • Bay leaf – 1-2 pcs.
  • Ground black pepper – ¼ teaspoon + 1 pinch
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon (no slide) + 1 pinch

Directions

  1. We prepare the necessary ingredients.
  2. Wash the pork, dry it, and cut into medium pieces.
  3. Preheat a deep frying pan with 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and put the pieces of pork in it. Fry the pork over high heat on all sides until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. We reduce the heat to the minimum, add 1 pinch of salt and 1 pinch of ground black pepper to the meat, cover the pan with a lid, simmer for 10 minutes. Stir the meat 2-3 times during cooking.
  5. While the meat is being cooked, boil the rice until half cooked. To do this, wash the rice until the water is transparent and boil in salted water for 10 minutes from the moment it boils. We put the rice in a colander so that the glass is water.
  6. Wash the champignons, dry, and cut into pieces.
  7. Preheat a frying pan with 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and fry the mushrooms until the liquid evaporates and ruddy, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Peel and wash onions, carrots, and bell peppers.
    Cut the onion into small pieces, rub the carrots on a coarse grater, and cut the pepper into thin strips.
  9. Then add onions, carrots, and bell peppers to the pan to the meat and fry everything together for 5-6 minutes.
  10. Shred cabbage.
  11. We spread the chopped cabbage in a pan to the meat fried with vegetables, simmer under the lid for 25 minutes, until the cabbage settles (does not decrease in volume).
  12. Add 1 teaspoon. A flat spoon of salt, ¼ teaspoon. Of ground black pepper, bay leaf, and tomato paste. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
  13. Add fried mushrooms and boiled rice. Stir and simmer under a lid over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  14. Cabbage stewed with meat, rice and mushrooms are ready.
  15. Serve stewed cabbage with meat, rice, and mushrooms hot.
