Ingredients

  • 800 g cauliflower, fresh
  • 150 ml cream
  • 100 ml milk
  • 50 g Gouda cheese, rated
  • some sea salt
  • Nutmeg, grated
  • some lemon juice
  • 100 g cooked ham
  • possibly sauce thickener, lighter

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the cauliflower, cut into florets and cook in lightly salted water for about 10 minutes, not too soft. Then put aside.
  2. Mix the cream and milk, heat and add the cheese. Stir until the cheese has melted. Season to taste with salt, nutmeg and lemon juice. Cut the ham into thin strips and add them.
  3. Drain the cauliflower, arrange on plates and cover with the sauce.
  4. Boiled potatoes are ideal as a side dish. If you want, you can add a little white sauce thickener to the heated cream-milk mixture. This prevents curdling. As a variant, you can also pour the cauliflower florets drained into a greased baking dish, cover with the ham sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake at 160 ° for about 20 minutes.
