Crispy Brushwood “Flowers” According to Grandmother’s Recipe

I share my favorite recipe from my childhood. Granny’s crispy brushwood, which is not only tasty, but also very beautiful! “Flowers” brushwood, where each petal melts in your mouth. Be sure to try it, it’s delicious!

Ingredients

  • Yolks – 4 pcs.
  • Milk – 0.5 cups
  • Sour cream – 1.5 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1.5 tbsp
  • Flour – 3 glasses + on the table top
  • Cognac (or vodka) – 3 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) – 2 cups
  • Powdered sugar (for decoration) – to taste

Directions

  1. Put the vegetable oil and icing sugar aside.
    All the rest – flour, sugar, yolks, milk, cognac and sour cream – are combined in a cup. Thanks to the cognac, the brushwood will be crispy and will absorb less oil.
  2. We knead the dough. It turns out to be soft, slightly sticks to the table.
    We put the dough in the refrigerator to lie down for 30 minutes.
  3. Lightly dust the table with flour. Roll out the dough (it is better to use small pieces, it will be easier to work) into a layer 1-2 mm thick.
    Using three notches of different dias, we cut out circles from the dough.
  4. Putting three different blanks together. We press down the middle well. Then we make four cuts with a knife to make the petals.
  5. Fry brushwood in a large amount of heated oil until golden brown on both sides. It is better to lower the workpieces in oil with small petals down, so they will open more effectively.
  6. Put the fried brushwood on paper towels to get rid of excess oil.
    Sprinkle still warm brushwood with powdered sugar – like in childhood – more!
