Green Mashed Potatoes with Spinach

by Editorial Staff

Mashed potatoes are a popular and beloved side dish. I propose to deviate a little from the classic recipe and make green puree! Its basis is all the same boiled potatoes. But spinach will be responsible for the green color of the dish. In the taste of mashed potatoes, spinach is not felt, perhaps a little and then, in the distance, but an effective serving of ordinary mashed potatoes is guaranteed!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 600 g
  • Fresh spinach – 80 g
  • Butter – 30 g
  • Drinking water – 600 ml
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare the required ingredients. Peel and rinse the potatoes. During the cooking process, you will need hot water (boiling water).
  2. Cut potatoes into small slices and place in a saucepan.
  3. Pour the potatoes level with cold drinking water and place over high heat. When the water boils, add salt and reduce heat.
  4. Boil the potatoes until tender (for 20-25 minutes).
  5. Then drain the potato broth from the pan into a suitable container (you still need it).
  6. Rinse the spinach leaves and remove the tough stems.
  7. Dip the spinach leaves in boiling water for 30 seconds.
  8. Then put the spinach leaves in cold water for 10 seconds. Squeeze the spinach leaves out of the liquid.
  9. Transfer the spinach leaves to a blender bowl. Pour 6 tbsp of potato broth.
  10. Purée the spinach.
  11. Mash the potatoes with a pusher until puree.
  12. Add the butter and spinach puree to the mashed potatoes.
  13. Stir in the puree, pouring in as much of the potato broth as needed to create a smooth puree of the consistency you want.
  14. Green mashed potatoes with spinach are ready. Serve hot as a side dish with meat or fish.

Enjoy your meal!
