Ingredients

  • 400 g meat (yros), seasoned
  • 1 clove garlic
  • salt
  • 4 tablespoon Metaxa
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 40 g crème fraîche
  • 60 g cheese (Emmentaler)
  • 500 g french fries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 225 ° C and place the french fries on a baking sheet. Bake on the middle rack for about 15 minutes.
  2. Briefly fry the gyros in a non-stick pan on the highest heat. Then continue frying at medium temperature, but not too crispy so that the meat remains juicy. If you buy ready-made gyros, no more oil is needed because the meat is already soaked in oil.
  3. Add garlic to taste. Add the metaxa and tomato paste and stir in well. Then briefly bring to the boil again. Turn off the stove and stir the crème fraiche into the sauce.
  4. Put the gyros in a baking dish and sprinkle with the finely grated cheese. Place the pan in the oven with the fries on a wire rack. Baked for another 10 minutes.
