  • 600 g lamb medallions
  • Gyros seasoning for marinating
  • 2 large bell peppers, red
  • 400 g mushrooms, brown
  • 2 medium onion (s)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoon ketchup
  • 6 tablespoon Metaxa
  • 200 ml cream
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 200 g cheese, rated
  • Paprika powder
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Marinate the lamb medallions in a little oil with the gyros spice. This can also be done the day before if the marinade is to take effect longer. Sear the meat on both sides in a pan without any additional oil and then place it directly in a baking dish.
  2. Chop the onions and garlic and fry the meat in a little oil in the same pan as before. At the same time, wash the peppers and cut into cubes or long strips. Now clean the mushrooms and cut them into cubes or slices. Add the vegetables to the pan and simmer on a low flame until all the liquid has evaporated.
  3. Now add the tomato paste and ketchup and fry briefly. Then extinguish everything with the Metaxa and reduce briefly. Now stir in the cream and sour cream and simmer for a few minutes. Finally, season with the paprika powder, salt and pepper.
  4. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
  5. Pour the Metaxa sauce over the lamb medallions in the baking dish and sprinkle with cheese. Bake everything for about 30 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.
  6. This goes well with rice, croquettes or white bread, a fresh salad and tzatziki.
