Ingredients
- 500 g onion (s), red or other
- 125 g mararine
- 125 g flour
- 0.25 ¼ pack baking powder
- 125 g quark
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 125 g bacon
- 2 medium egg (s)
- 200 g sour cream
- 1 pinch (s) salt
- 150 g cheese, rated, e.., Gouda or Emmentaler (optional)

- Slice or cut the onions into thin slices.
- Put the flour, baking powder and quark in a bowl with the soft margarine. Then use the dough hook of the mixer to form a smooth dough.
- Lightly grease a baking pan (26 cm diameter), add the dough and spread it evenly with your hands or a spatula.
- Heat the oil in a large pan and briefly fry the diced ham in it.
- Then add the chopped onions and fry everything for another 4 - 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour the onion and ham mix onto the prepared dough base and distribute evenly on top. Sprinkle with grated cheese as an option.
- Whisk the eggs with the sour cream and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Pour this mixture over the topping and distribute it evenly. Put the onion cake in the oven and bake at 200 degrees, fan oven 180 degrees, for about 30 minutes.
- Let the baked onion cake cool down briefly, then remove it from the mold and serve.
