Warm Salad with Squid, Tomatoes and Onions

Hearty and unusual warm salad with squid, onion, and tomatoes.

Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • Squid (peeled frozen carcasses) – 800 g
  • Tomatoes – 3-4 pcs. (500 g)
  • Bulb onions – 3-4 pcs. (600 g)
  • Butter – 50 g

Directions

  1. Let’s prepare the food for the salad and get started!
  2. Cut the onion into thin half-rings, the tomatoes into arbitrary medium cubes.
  3. Melt the butter in a frying pan.
  4. In a frying pan with butter, we will simmer onions and tomatoes.
  5. Simmer the onion until it becomes completely soft, about 10 minutes (if the onion variety is such that it is stewed for a long time, then about 20 to 40 minutes).
  6. While the onion is stewing, boil the water.
  7. Put frozen squid carcasses in boiling water. After the water boils again, cook the squid for THREE minutes! Not more!
  8. Cool the squid in cold water.
  9. We clean the squid from cartilage (they look like thin plastic tubes) and from the transparent film (because it does not chew well).
  10. Cut squid into strips.
  11. Put the chopped squid in a pan with vegetables, mix and simmer the squid with tomatoes and onions for 5-7 minutes.
  12. A warm salad of squid, tomatoes, and onions is ready.
