Baked Pumpkin with Garlic, Mustard, Honey and Bay Leaves

According to this recipe, the pumpkin is baked in the Hasselbeck style – it is poured with a mixture of butter, garlic, and aromatic spices, due to which a fragrant glazed crust forms on its surface. Baked spicy pumpkin turns out to be spicy and tasty.

Ingredients

  • Pumpkin (whole or half) – 1.5 kg
  • Garlic – 4-5 cloves
  • Granular mustard – 70 g
  • Liquid honey – 25 g
  • Apple cider vinegar – 25 ml
  • Dried rosemary – 1 teaspoon
  • Butter – 80 g
  • Vegetable oil – 20 ml
  • Bay leaf – 1-1.5 g (10-15 pcs.)
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. We prepare all the necessary products. We turn on the oven to heat up to 180 ° C.
  2. Cut the pumpkin lengthwise into two halves, peel and remove the seeds.
  3. I used one half of a pumpkin weighing 1.5 kg.
  4. Grease the pumpkin with vegetable oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper on both sides.
  5. Transfer the pumpkin to a baking sheet.
  6. We bake the pumpkin in the oven for about 25 minutes, until half cooked.
  7. While the pumpkin is baking, prepare the fragrant oil, peel the garlic and pass through a press.
  8. Melt the butter in the microwave (or in another convenient way).
  9. Combine butter, garlic, rosemary, honey, apple cider vinegar and mustard.
  10. We mix everything.
  11. We make transverse cuts in the pumpkin, not reaching the end of about 1 cm. The distance between the cuts is 1-1.5 cm. For convenience, before cutting the pumpkin, you can put sushi sticks or wooden skewers on both sides of the pumpkin. Then the knife will rest against the sticks and will not cut the pumpkin to the end.
  12. We insert bay leaves into the cuts. It is possible, if the sheets are large, to break them into several parts.
  13. Pour 1/3 of the fragrant oil on the pumpkin on top.
  14. Put the pumpkin in the preheated oven again and bake for 30-40 minutes, until tender.
  15. When baking, grease the pumpkin with the remaining spicy small every 10-15 minutes.
  16. Before serving, pour the pumpkin again with the oil remaining on the baking sheet and serve. The baked pumpkin with spices can be served separately, supplemented with yogurt or sour cream sauce, or as a side dish for meat dishes.
