Ingredients

  • 450 g honey
  • 300 g suar
  • 0.5 tablespoon ½ cinnamon
  • 1 pinch (s) clove powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ nutmeg
  • 100 g orane peel, chopped
  • 100 g lemon peel, chopped
  • 200 g almond (s), rouhly chopped
  • 1 lemon (organic), grated zest
  • 100 ml kirsch
  • 600 grams flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ baking powder
  • 150 g powdered suar
  • 3 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Slowly bring the honey, sugar and spices to the boil in a saucepan and remove from the fire. Add the orange peel, lemon peel, almonds and grated lemon zest and mix everything together. Add kirsch, flour and baking powder and mix everything into a batter.
  2. Roll out the still warm dough into a rectangle about 5 mm thick on two baking sheets sprinkled with a little flour and leave to rest for a few hours (e.g. overnight). Then bake in the middle of the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 190 degrees (convection).
  3. Meanwhile mix powdered sugar with water for the glaze. After baking, glaze immediately, cut away the hard edge and then cut the treats with a pizza roller (or carefully with a knife) into pieces approx. 4 cm by 5 cm.
  4. The treats are best kept in a plastic bag. They shouldn`t dry out completely, otherwise they can become very hard. Taste good all year round and go well with a good glass of red wine!
