Chicken Paprikash

A wonderful Serbian dish is stewed chicken with a side dish. And for a side dish, dumplings (dumplings). Very tasty.

Ingredients

  • Chicken or its individual parts (I took 4 large drumsticks) – 1 kg
  • Onions – 3 large heads
  • Vegetable oil – 100 ml
  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Broth or water – 1 l
  • Sweet paprika
  • Eggs – 2 pcs.
  • Flour – up to 150 g

Directions

  1. If the chicken is whole, then cut it into pieces.
  2. Cut the onion into small cubes and fry in 50 ml of vegetable oil or lard. Place the onions in a thick saucepan. Fry the chicken in the remaining oil over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Transfer the chicken to the onion.
  3. Then add the paprika. Decide on paprika according to your taste. The recipe recommends 1 tbsp. For me this is a lot, I added only 1 teaspoon and the dish turned out to be slightly spicy. Pour in 1 liter of water, but better than chicken broth. Simmer for 20 minutes over moderate heat.
  4. For dumplings (dumplings) from two eggs, a pinch of salt and flour, prepare the dough. Beat eggs with salt and gradually add flour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Collect half a spoonful of dough and use another spoon to push it into paprikash. Boil chicken paprikash for 6-8 minutes. Let it brew for 15 minutes.
  6. Serve hot chicken paprikash with salad or pickles.
