Curd Roll with Poppy Seeds and Streusel

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • Wheat flour – 320 g
  • Cottage cheese – 250 g
  • Butter (room temperature) – 75 g
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Sugar – 50 g
  • Vanilla sugar – 8 g
  • Baking dough – 2 teaspoon
  • Soda – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Dry poppy seeds – 100 g
  • Milk – 270 ml
  • Sugar – 75 g
  • Honey – 20 g
  • Butter – 20 g
  • Bread crumbs – 40 g

For Streisel:

  • Wheat flour – 70 g
  • Butter – 40 g
  • Sugar – 40 g
  • Baking dough – 1/8 teaspoon

To grease the roll:

  • Milk – 2-3 tbsp

Directions

  1. Before preparing the curd roll with poppy seeds and streusel, we prepare all the necessary products. It is advisable to use cottage cheese homogeneous, without grains (we had a pasty one). Put the Streisel oil in the refrigerator.
  2. Let’s start the preparation of the roll with the poppy filling. We grind the poppy in a coffee grinder
  3. In a saucepan, mix poppy seeds, honey, milk, sugar, and butter.
  4. We put the saucepan on heating and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook the contents for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove the stewpan from heat, let the poppy filling cool.
  5. While the filling is cooling down, let’s prepare a curd dough for a roll. Grind the butter with sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt.
  6. Add the egg to the oil mixture and beat lightly with a whisk.
  7. Add cottage cheese and mix well.
  8. Sift flour. Add baking powder and soda to it.
  9. Pour flour into a bowl with a curd-butter mixture.
  10. We knead the dough. It is not necessary to knead it for a long time, 1-2 minutes is enough.
  11. Add breadcrumbs to the cooled filling and mix well.
  12. Put the dough on a well-dusted table with flour and roll it out into a rectangle 40-30 cm in size.
  13. We mentally divide the dough rectangle into three parts along its length. On the middle part, evenly spread half of the filling.
  14. Cover the filling with one of the free dough pieces.
  15. Put the remaining filling on top.
  16. Cover with the remaining free part of the dough and pinch the edges well.We turn on the oven, let it heat up to 180 degrees. Place the curd dough roll with poppy filling on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper
  17. To prepare the streusel, sift the flour.
  18. Add baking powder and sugar to the flour.
  19. We take the butter out of the refrigerator and cut into small pieces.
  20. Add oil to the flour mixture. With your hands, quickly grind the butter and flour into crumbs.
  21. Lubricate the roll with plenty of milk.
  22. Sprinkle the roll with streusel.
  23. We send the curd roll pie with poppy seeds and streusel to the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees. We take the finished poppy seed roll out of the oven and let it cool slightly.
  24. Curd roll with poppy seeds and streusel is ready.
