Ingredients

  • 2 packs puff pastry, from the cooling shelf, approx. 70 g per pack
  • 200 g hazelnuts, chopped
  • 100 ml whipped cream
  • 4 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Unpack a pack of puff pastry and spread it out. Mix the hazelnuts with cocoa and cream so that a pulpy mixture is formed. Spread the hazelnut mixture evenly on the puff pastry. Unpack the second puff pastry and place on top. Now cut the puff pastry into even strips that are approx. 30 cm long and 4 cm thick. Twist the strips together by holding the top end and twisting the bottom end tight. Feel free to twist the strips very tightly, because they will open when baking. If the strips are not twisted in tight enough, the braid will break later.
  2. Place the twisted strips on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and bake at approx. 180 ° C for approx. 20 minutes until they have risen nicely and are golden yellow.
  3. Take the braids out of the oven, let them cool down a bit and, if necessary, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
