Ingredients

  • 500 g sushi rice or ood rice puddin
  • 4 tablespoon powder (sushi vinegar powder Sushinoko)
  • 8 fish fingers, with white meat
  • 200 g French fries, frozen
  • 4 nori sheets
  • some mayonnaise
  • some ketchup

Instructions

  1. Sushi vinegar powder is available in Asian stores. Alternatively, the sushi rice can also be cooked with sushi vinegar, select a recipe from the database.
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Wash the rice 2 or 3 times in a saucepan, then drain off the water. Add 700 ml of cold water to the saucepan and let the rice rest for 10 minutes. Please make sure that the pot holds more than 1.8 l and has a cover!
  3. Lay out parchment paper on the baking sheet, spread the fries and fish fingers on top and put the baking sheet in the oven. It takes about 20 minutes to finish fries and fish fingers.
  4. Now cook the rice. To do this, place the pot on an electric stove on the maximum setting (3) and wait until the foam comes out of the pot. This takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Then turn the heat to zero and let the saucepan stand on the stove for 15 minutes. Please note that due to the size of the pot, the foam may not be able to come out. To avoid stuck rice, check every now and then - but not often! - whether there is still liquid. When the liquid is used up, immediately turn the heat to zero and leave the saucepan on the stove for 15 minutes. When the rice is ready, put the rice in a bowl and mix in the sushi vinegar powder. This will make the rice smooth.
  5. Take the fish fingers and fries out of the oven when they`re done
  6. Now comes the rolling. There are several tips for doing this, but my recommendation is to wrap a bamboo mat with cling film so the rice doesn`t stick to the mat.
  7. Place nori sheets on the mat and spread the rice on top. Spread 2 fish fingers and french fries on top of the rice and add mayo and ketchup. Shape everything into a roll with the help of the bamboo mat. Tip: There are lots of good tips for rolling on Youtube! After rolling, cut the rolls into slices and serve.
