Ingredients

  • 2 kg beef bones from pasture cattle
  • 4 liters water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar per liter

Instructions

  1. Put the roasted mixed beef bones, meat bones, sand bones and marrow bones in a cold pot, well covered with water, and bring to a boil over a low flame. Add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar per liter to the cooking water because the vinegar dissolves all the good substances from the bones. The nutrients are only released from the bones after simmering for 4 hours. Do not add salt or other spices, just the bay leaves if you need the broth for cooking, soups, sauces, etc. Let the bones simmer for at least 18 hours. Always on a low flame so that no protein escapes. Yes, the longer you boil the bones, the more substances are released from the bones, which can be done for up to 72 hours. But the broth should cook for at least 18 hours. If you can`t do it all at once, you can also take a break in between, e.g., overnight.
  2. When you have done this, pour the bone broth through a sieve and divide it into glasses.
  3. Once cooled, the broth can be kept in the refrigerator for several days. But it is even better to boil them down or keep them in portions in the freezer.
  4. If you have a slow cooker, you have the advantage of simmering the bone broth in it. In any case, the bones should be covered with water.
  5. The bone broth is a power pack for health that our grandparents already knew. It can help us maintain a healthy intestinal flora and thus help to alleviate gastrointestinal complaints. It is also important for healthy joints and helps us reduce joint pain. Our ancestors already knew this and this broth was used for sick people. But not only there, also for healthy people, because it tastes great and you can use it for the ketogenic diet.
