Kurnik with Potatoes

Incredible dough! Yeast dough with sour cream – very tender! A pie made from such a dough does not stale for a long time. After cooking, you can heat it up in the microwave for another 2-3 days, and the chicken will remain as soft. The filling of chicken, onion and potatoes is hearty and tasty!

Ingredients

  • Sour cream of any fat content – 250 g
  • Vegetable oil – 40 ml
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Flour – 480 g (3 glasses of 250 ml)
  • Dry fast-acting yeast – 7 g
  • Soda – 0.5 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Chicken meat (thigh fillet) – 500 g
  • Potatoes (medium size) – 4-5 pcs.
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Butter – 60 g
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. Sift flour, add sugar, salt and yeast. We mix.
  2. Make a depression in the flour with a spoon. Add sour cream and soda, mix.
  3. Add the egg and mix everything with flour.
  4. Add vegetable oil and knead the dough with your hands.
  5. The dough is elastic, does not stick to hands. It doesn’t have to be cool.
  6. We put the dough in a bag and leave for 1 hour in a warm place.
  7. We prepare everything for the filling.
    Cut the chicken meat into small pieces. Peel and finely chop the onion. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.
  8. Add onion, salt, pepper and potatoes to the chicken. Mix everything well.
  9. The dough has slightly increased in size, became soft and tender.
  10. Divide the dough into two unequal parts.
  11. Most of it will be the bottom of the cake, we roll it into a layer 0.5 cm thick – a little more than the dia of the baking dish.
  12. Lubricate the form with vegetable oil. The dia of my mold is 28 cm, the height is 5 cm. We
    turn on the oven to heat it up to 190 degrees.
    We spread the rolled dough into a mold, form the sides.
  13. We spread the filling, level it.
  14. Put small pieces of butter on the filling.
  15. We roll out the second part of the dough into a layer 0.5 cm thick, according to the size of the mold. At the same time, we do not add flour.
  16. Cover the filling. We pinch the edges of the dough.
  17. We make a hole in the center for steam to escape.
    Cover the cake with a napkin and leave for 10 minutes.
  18. We bake a pie with chicken and potatoes at first for 20 minutes at 190 degrees, until a slight blush.
  19. Then close the mold with foil and bake the chicken for about 40-50 minutes at a temperature of 170 degrees, until tender. The readiness of the pie is determined by the softness of the potatoes.
  20. We take out the pie with chicken and potatoes from the oven and let it cool.
  21. Kurnik with potatoes is ready! We eat it warm!
