Ingredients

For the sauce:

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 can tomato (s), chopped, drained, 520 g
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 pinch (s) sugar
  • 1 squirt lemon juice
  • salt and pepper
  • some basil, chopped
  • 3 tablespoon heavy cream

For the meat:

  • 400 g minced meat
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 roll, from the day before
  • some Milk
  • 1 onion (s), chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 0.5 ½ bunch parsley
  • 1 handful basil, chopped
  • salt and pepper
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. For the sauce, heat the olive oil in a pan, sauté the garlic and onion in it. Add the drained tomatoes, bring to the boil and simmer for about 5 minutes. Now stir in the tomato paste, stir in the sugar and lemon juice as well. Simmer on a low setting for at least 30 minutes. The longer the sauce simmer, the better it will be.
  2. For the meatballs, soak the roll in the milk, then squeeze it out and tear it apart. Mix the minced meat with the oil, rolls, onions, garlic, basil, parsley, salt and pepper well until everything forms a compact mass. Shape the mixture into balls the size of a tree nut (moisten your hands slightly if necessary). Heat enough oil in a frying pan and fry the balls over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, then drain.
  3. In the meantime, puree / strain the tomato sauce and bring to the boil again. Stir in the cream and season with salt, pepper and basil.
  4. The sauce is distributed on decorative plates, the meatballs are garnished with toothpicks and served on the sauce.
