Mullet Marinated in Tomato Sauce

Do you like delicious pickled fish? Then don’t miss this recipe. Mullet is pickled in a matter of hours, and preparatory work will take a minimum of your time.

Ingredients

  • Fresh mullet (fillet) – 300 g
  • Tomato juice – 200 ml
  • Vegetable oil – 100 ml
  • Onions – 100 g
  • Vinegar 9% – 60 ml
  • Salt – 3 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 2-3 teaspoon
  • Black peppercorns – 10 pcs.
  • Ground coriander – 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaf – 2 pcs.

Directions

  1. Prepare foods for pickled fish. Peel the fish and cut the fillet into portions.
  2. Cut the onion head into thin pieces. By the way, onions marinated with fish turns out to be very tasty and mild, so if you like it, then you can take more than one head.
  3. Place the fish chunks on the bottom of a saucepan and onion chunks on top.
  4. Combine the tomato with the spices and herbs, as well as the oil, and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the salt and sugar.
  5. After removing the tomato sauce from the stove, start pouring vinegar into it, but first, it is better to pour not all, but a part, and then carefully taste the sauce.
    (Everyone has different tastes, so you may need less vinegar, or you may need to add a little more, so it is advisable to try the sauce and add vinegar to it in portions.)
  6. After mixing the sauce with the required amount of vinegar, immediately, while it is hot, pour it over the fish and onions. Now cover and let the fish marinate.
  7. In a few hours, the pickled mullet will be ready. If suddenly you do not like mullet, then it can be easily replaced with mackerel. Serve with potatoes, sprinkled with dill or green onions.
