Myadzvedz (Belarusian Potato Casserole)

“Myadzvedz” (bear) is a simple Belarusian dish of potatoes and onions. The dish is universal, it can be lean or with the addition of lard, sausage, etc. This recipe is used to prepare a Belarusian “myadzvedz” with smoked sausage and sour cream.
Ingredients
- Potatoes – 600 g
- Bulb onions – 2 pcs.
- Smoked sausage – 300-400 g
- Sour cream – 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying – 2 tbsp
Directions
- Prepare the required ingredients. Wash the potatoes and boil until half cooked (10 minutes after boiling). For casseroles, it is best to use a ceramic dish.
- Peel the onion and cut into cubes.
- Cut the sausage into cubes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and fry the onion until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
- Peel and grate the potatoes.
- Add fried onions to the potatoes.
- Put the sausage there.
- Salt and mix everything well.
- Place the potatoes, onions and sausage in an ovenproof dish. (You can cook this potato dish in ceramic portion pots.)
- Lubricate with sour cream on top.
- Turn on the oven to heat to 180 degrees and place the casserole in it for about 40-45 minutes. (If the dish is not heat-resistant, then put it in the cold oven and cook the casserole for 10-15 minutes longer.)
