Ingredients

  • 1 kg potato (s) (new potatoes)
  • 50 g bacon, raw, untreated (reen bacon, salo)
  • 1 bunch dill, cut into small pieces
  • a bit salt

Instructions

  1. Scrape off the paper skin from the new potatoes with a knife, boil the potatoes in lightly salted water, drain.
  2. In the meantime, finely dice the green bacon (Salo), add to the pan and fry until golden.
  3. Put the green bacon and fat in the pot with the potatoes and add the dill, cut into small pieces. Close the pot with the lid, place an oblong folded tea towel over the lid, hold the pot handles tightly, shake the pot 2-3 times, done.
  4. The Ukrainian radish salad or the coleslaw made from young white cabbage with cucumber and dill go very well with it (see my recipes).
  5. This dish is a typical Ukrainian breakfast in the early potato season. In the Ukraine people cook a lot with salo (green bacon). Dill is the most popular herb in Ukraine.
