The meat baked on onions is very tender, juicy, it just melts in your mouth. And the onion acquires a delicate caramel taste. You will spend quite a bit of your personal time preparing this dish.
Cook: 2 hours 30 mins
Servings: 8
Ingredients
Pork neck (or other fatty parts of pork) – 1.5 kg
Onions – 700 g
Garlic – 3-4 cloves
Butter – 70-100 g
Soy sauce – 2 tbsp
White wine vinegar – 1.5 teaspoon
Water – 3/4 cup
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste
Directions
Here is such a beautiful piece of my neck, 1.5 kg.
Cut the onion into strips.
Place the onions in a greased roasting pan.
I tied the meat a little with a thread to keep the neck in shape, you can also do this.
Sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper on all sides (to make it convenient to grind the spices over the meat, you can grease your hands with vegetable oil).
Peel the garlic and cut into small pieces. Lash the garlic into the meat, making shallow cuts evenly over the surface
Transfer the meat to the onion.
Combine soy sauce, vinegar and water.
Pour the sauce into a roasting pan and place the diced butter around the meat.
Cover the meat tightly with foil and place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees. Bake the meat for 1 hour. Then reduce heat to 180 degrees and bake for another 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake the meat at 180 degrees for another 30-40 minutes.
Here is such a “tanned” meat is obtained on an onion pillow.
The meat is so tender that it cannot be cut into thin slices, it just crumbles under the knife’s edge, and melts in your mouth! 🙂 You can also eat caramel onions.
