Ingredients

  • 350 g flour
  • 175 grams sugar
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 100 ml milk
  • 150 ml orange juice
  • 4 egg (s), separated
  • 125 g butter, or mararine
  • 40 g cocoa powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 100 g almond (s), chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
  • 1 pinch clove powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C
  2. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until frothy. Stir in butter or margarine. Mix the flour with the baking powder and sift onto the egg mixture. Add cocoa powder, vanilla sugar, spices, milk and orange juice and mix everything into a batter. Now briefly fold in the chopped almonds.
  3. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the dough at the very end.
  4. Spread the dough in a greased springform pan with a tube base insert and bake at 180 ° C for about 60 minutes.
  5. It is best to bake the finished cake 2 days before consumption so that it is well cooked. Dust with powdered sugar or cover with a glaze, if you like.
  6. Instead of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove you can simply add 4 teaspoons of gingerbread spice to the dough.
