Stewed Cabbage with Sausages Ingredients

  • Fresh cabbage – 1 Kilogram
  • Sausages – 200 Gram (hunting, Bavarian)
  • Onion – 1 Piece
  • Tomato paste – 1.5-2 Art. spoons
  • Vegetable oil – 2 Tbsp. spoons
  • Salt – 0.5 Teaspoons (to taste)
  • Ground black pepper – 1 Pinch
  • Bay leaf – 1-2 pieces

Stewed Cabbage with Sausages Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or cauldron. Add the peeled and finely chopped onion. Fry until light golden brown.
  2. Cut the sausages into slices. Add to the onion and fry for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Finely chop the cabbage, sprinkle with salt and remember – it will become softer and let the juice out.
  4. We send cabbage to onions with sausages. Mix, add a couple of tablespoons of water.

  5. Reduce heat, cover the pan with a lid and simmer the cabbage for about 15 minutes.
  6. Now let’s add the tomato paste. If there is a lot of juice in the cabbage, you do not need to dilute the paste. If not enough, add a little water. Add pepper and bay leaves. Stir and simmer for another 30 minutes over low heat. Do not forget to stir periodically.
