Two-Color Shortbread “Bulls”

Ahead of us is the New Year 2021 – the Year of the Ox. Therefore, I suggest you prepare delicious and elegant goby-shaped cookies. Such cookies will serve not only as a wonderful treat on the festive table, but also as an excellent tasty gift for relatives and friends.

Ingredients

  • Butter – 120 g
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
  • Sour cream – 25 g
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Sugar (fine) – 100 g
  • Flour – 350 g
  • Cocoa powder – 15 g
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Black sesame (for decoration) – 16 seeds

Directions

  1. Sift flour into a bowl and combine with sugar, salt and vanilla sugar. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Melt the butter in the microwave or in a saucepan on the stove, let it cool.
    Make a hole in the flour mixture and pour melted butter and vegetable oil into it.
  3. Stir well until crumbled.
  4. Add the egg to the resulting oil crumb and mix thoroughly again.
  5. Add sour cream at the very end.
  6. Knead the dough. It should be oily and dense, but not dry. Therefore, if the dough crumbles, then add a little more sour cream.
  7. Divide the dough into 2 halves and add cocoa powder to one half.
  8. Stir the dough until smooth.
  9. Wrap the finished dough in foil (or arrange in bags) and send to the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes to cool.
  10. After the right time, place both pieces of dough on a work surface and stretch into 2 sausages. Separate 1/3 part from each piece of dough and set aside – they will be needed to form small parts.
  11. Divide most of the sausages into 8-10 equal parts.
  12. Roll each piece of dough into a ball.
    Cover the baking sheet with paper.
  13. Shape the cookies: flatten each ball of dough and shape the cakes into a pear shape.
  14. Put the cookies on a baking sheet.
  15. Complete the image of the bulls: from the remaining dough, mold small details – eyes, noses, ears, horns and tails.
    For dark gobies, make the horns, nose and eyes from light dough, the tail can be made light with a dark brush, the ears can be made both light and dark. Thanks to the contrasting elements, the finished cookies will look more interesting.
  16. For light bulls, make horns, eyes, ears and a nose from dark dough. You can insert a sesame seed into the center of the peephole. The ponytail can also be made in two colors.
    Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
  17. When all the gobies are ready, decorate the cookies with them. Use a wooden skewer or sushi stick to attach all the pieces.
    At the very end, it remains to make the legs of the gobies. To do this, make cuts at the bottom of each workpiece with a knife, without cutting through the workpiece.
  18. Bake the Gobies two-color shortbread at 180 ° C for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
    Allow the liver to cool completely before serving.
