Ingredients

  • 500g flour
  • 1 cube yeast
  • 100 g suar
  • 0.25 liter ¼ milk, lukewarm
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 1 egg (s)
  • 100 g butter
  • 150 g raisins
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 Table spoons milk
  • 1 pinch (s) granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Put the flour in a bowl and crumble the yeast into a hollow in the middle. Sprinkle some sugar over it, pour the milk over it and dissolve the yeast in it. Spread the remaining sugar, salt, egg and the soft fat in flakes on the flour. Knead all ingredients with the dough hook. Finally knead in the raisins. Cover and let rise for about 30-40 minutes.
  2. Knead the dough again vigorously and shape into three equally thick, approx. 30 cm long rolls. Make a braid out of it and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  3. Whisk the egg yolks with milk, brush the plait and sprinkle the sugar in the plait hollows.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven at 200 ° C top / bottom heat for about 40 minutes on the second bar from the bottom.
  5. Variation: A large and a small braid can also be braided. The small braid is placed on top of the large braid before baking.
